How to DIY change an alarm battery to your alarm system
1. If you have a control room monitoring contact them to place in test mode.
2. With a screwdriver(or key) open the cover to the main alarm unit.
3. Your alarm system might sound if there is a box tamper device. If this is the case disarm the alarm system with a pin code or key fob
4. Battery is easily visable and can now be easily removed by disconnecting the terminal lug with your hands
5. Take away the old battery and dispose safely
6. Install the new battery (same as install procedures in reverse) and close the cover.
7. Your alarm battery replacement is now complete and ready to operate
How to test an alarm main battery to the system
It might be the situation that you have moved into a new property or you may have simply forgot when you last changed this. We should now test the battery to know if it is good or bad. To do this just remove the front cover with a couple screws then you can see the battery. Just be careful in case there is a tamper device installed as this may trigger your alarm. So first thing to do is take the leads off the battery. With your voltmeter change the setting to volts DC. A good battery should read close to 13 volts. And if the battery voltage drops down by more than 1.2 volts it's a good time to change it.
Our battery we tested reads around 11 volts so this means the battery is no good and now needs to be changed. And a good idea is to mark the date on the battery when this was last changed.
